Green Economy Needs Boost, U.N. says

The United Arab Emirates are saying that the industrialized nations need to make renewable energy better and more attractive to keep the climate in check. A special report on renewable resources is saying that wind and solar energy could be as much as 80% of the global energy mix by 2050. This can only happen if the economies make the right decisions. If the economies make the right decisions and incentives then that could mean an increase in the energy mixes of clean energy development. Another thing that would happen if the economies switched to renewable energy would be that the greenhouse gases would stay low to keep the climate change in order. To make this all happen the nations must start using renewable resources at a very large scale. The different nations cooperations is the key to switch to renewable energy in all countries. (picture- what 80% of our global energy mix could be in 2050, wind and solar energy)

Having renewable energy in all countries would be an amazing switch in the world. Wind and solar energy could be 80% of the global energy mix by 2050, and thats not that far! It is surprising that just by switching from nonrenewable to renewable energy we could keep the climate change in check. I believe alternative renewable energy was always the better choice. There is so much more alternative renewable energy that could take place for nonrenewable energy and there would be so much less pollution. The world in general would become a better place. It would also be surprising to me if all the nations would be willing to work together and switch to renewable energy. If they can just realize what a difference it would make they could actually succeed.

Questions
1) Do you think switching to renewable energies in all countries is better than nonrenewable energy?
2) Do you think it's possible to switch over to renewable energy by 2050% Why or why not?
3) Why is switching to renewable energy put on the different econmies?
4) If the econmies switched to renewable energy what could happen?

  1. Wow this really surprised me, I knew we were going to have to start switching over to renewable energy but i didn't know it would happen that fast! When you think about it, 2050 is really not that far away. Just to think that by the time we are only a little bit older than our parents are now, four fifths of the world will be reliant on renewable energy! I find this kind of hard to believe because as far as I know, alternative energy sources are not very widely used yet. It seems like it would be pretty tough to completely switch where we get our energy from in less than half a decade. However, this is obviously going to become necessary so I gues we're going to have to make the switch. Hopefully we will actually be able to make this happen.

To answer the first question, I definitely think renewable energy is better tha nonrenewable. Eventually we are going to run out of nonrenewable energy sources and be forced to switch to renewable energy. Also, most renewable energy sources usually create less pollution than nonrenewable so they are just better overall.

  2. In perspective to how long we have been using fossil fuels, 2050 is not that far away!If everyone agreed to switch to renewable energy, that would be awesome. It would save so much time and money in the future. It would also be decreasing the amount of pollutants in our air. I do not see why people are being so stubborn not to switch to alternatives. It just makes complete sense to me to use alternatives instead of fossil fuels. I can relate this to what we just did our presentations on about alternative energies. I learned so much more about how alternatives would save us time and money, and also create jobs. Hopeully by 2050 everyone is completely using alternatives.

To answer question one: I think that renewable energy is much better than non renewable. Like I stated above, renewable energy saves time and money in the long run. Eventually we are going to run out of nonrenewable energy and be forced to switch to renewable; so why not just switch now? Today, we are having a lot of problems with pollution, but if we used renewable energy, we wouldnt be creating any.

  3. I completely agree with Katherine, we need to stop using fossil fuels. If we don’t start to make the switch now then when we run out of fossil fuels, and then it will be a lot harder to make that switch. Renewable energy sources are just so much better in every way. If the world as a whole can rely on wind and solar energy for 80% of our energy by 2050 that would be great. If we could get countries to agree to switch to renewable energy, then that could be the start of something even bigger like switching to electric cars that don’t use fossil fuels or having countries recycle more and make less trash. If we were able to switch our energy sources over to renewable energy then we would be taking the first step towards fixing the problems we created on the earth.

To answer Katherine’s second question, I do think we would be able to make that switch. If the prices of fossil fuels keep increasing like they do, then soon renewable energy will also be cheaper. After that happens then there is no point into keep using fossil fuels and countries will start to switch over to renewable energy like a lot are already starting to do.

  4. We always knew that our fossil fuels and other nonrenewable resources would run out some day and it looks like people are just starting to realize that we need other resources like renewable energy so that we will never run out of it. Having wind and solar energy be 80% globally used by 2050 is a great idea. I think that they are the two best energy resources to have because they are renewable and do not have a lot of dangerous and important disadvantages to them.

In my opinion, renewable energy is 100% better than nonrenewable energy. With nonrenewable you always have to worry about conserving what you have to use. With renewable energy, it does not matter because the source of energy is practically always going to be there.

  5. I have always liked renewable energy. Having this change reducing the greenhouse effect would be a tremendous change for the economy. It is something that we really need to get working on. 80% of global energy is way more than I expected, and this is a good thing. Being so reliable on renewable energy is good because we know that we will never run out of the source for each type of energy.

In response to Katherine's first question, I believe that switching to renewable energies in all countries is better than nonrenewable energy. We have relayed on so many nonrenewable energy that we will eventually run out. When this happens, we will need a back up plan to get the energy that is being lost. And that back up plan should be energy that is renewable.

  6. My last comment got deleted so here is just a quick summary of what I said: I basically agreed with Kyle in that 2050 is not that far away, and it is going to be hard to completely switch over to alternatives by that time. To answer Katherines first question: I beleive that switching to renewable energy, is better than nonrenewable energy. We will eventually run our of nonrenewable energy and switching to renewable energy is the best choice. It makes little or no pollution, andd saves time, effort, and most importantly money in the long run. Therefore, I think that switching to renewable energy in all countries is better than nonrenewable energy.
